StepJockey announces new German distribution partnership on London Mayor’s Berlin trade mission

StepJockey, the London health start-up which uses smart tech and behavioural economics to encourage workers to use the stairs instead of lifts, has today announced a new distribution partnership with Aktivita.

StepJockey was one of the first companies to secure funding to grow their business through our Angels in MedCity programme, raising £600k in September 2015.

StepJockey joined the Deputy Mayor for Business on a trade mission to Berlin. The initiative, led by the Mayor’s International Business Programme, is designed to help high-growth B2B tech companies identify partnerships and to explore business opportunities globally.

StepJockey fights sedentary behaviour in corporate offices by promoting stair use. Its unique smart signs and gamification platform enable employers to make their offices visibly healthier and more active without the need for large-scale capital investment. Benefits include:

  • more active and engaged employees
  • company-wide team stair climbing challenges
  • quantifiable returns via health, time and carbon savings

The StepJockey system is used in more than 12,000 buildings worldwide, including London City Hall, home to London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

Deputy Mayor for Business, Rajesh Agrawal, said: “I am delighted that StepJockey is joining me in Berlin as we showcase some of the most innovative and entrepreneurial businesses London has to offer.

“Our great city has a long and proud history of trading and doing business with our friends overseas and that will never change.

“The Mayor and I look forward to working with StepJockey, to build new relationships, attract investment and show the entire continent that London is Open and the best city in the world to do business with.”

Paul Nuki, StepJockey co-founder and CEO, said: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with Aktivita here in Berlin. Germany is Europe’s fastest growing economy and its businesses are famed for their commitment to staff wellness and productivity. We very much look forward to working here”.

German corporates are among the most advanced in the area of staff wellness and sustainability. StepJockey already has several German clients and the re-seller agreement with Aktivita will see its service promoted across Germany.

Thomas Johannpeter, CEO of Aktivita, said: “StepJockey is the perfect tool for corporate health management. It is easy to implement, immediatly applicable and has a highly motivating effect on the staff. It couldn`t be simpler just step. German companies are looking forward to StepJockey.”
